Glowinkowski Research Institute Research Based Consultancy

Our research based consultancy is action orientated and geared towards helping leaders to understand the ‘state of the game’ within their organisation.

One size does not fit all. There is no such thing as industry best practice. All organisations are different and therefore for successful change towards higher performance, all organisations require bespoke solutions based on solid research, not off-the-shelf products with a one-size-fits-all mentality.

It’s not until you start to research an organisation that you truly begin to understand it. Of course, leaders know their organisations better than we do so our aim is not to borrow their watch to tell them the time. Our research does however set out to identify the issues that leaders are not aware of or do not have clarity on. With a combination of our well practiced approach towards getting under the surface to the real issues, empirically researched and valid measurement tools and the impartiality of our position as external consultants, we are able to identify the issues that matter. We can then set about putting a programme or process in place to help the organisation become more successful.

Too often, consultancy skips this critical research phase. Organisations get the same solution from a consultant that another client received last week, even though the issues that prevail are no doubt different. It is no surprise that so many change programmes fail to make a sustainable difference.

All of our OD programmes begin with research. We utilise individual and organisation level measurement tools, interview senior leaders and experience what it’s like on the ground through speaking to employees. Using focus groups, we gain input from the people at the coal-face; they know what’s going on better than anyone. They are also the ones that will make the change happen; having them involved from the outset goes a long way to ensuring they take change on board

Grounding consultancy in solid research foundations is critical to ensuring success.

Creating High Performance

Creating High Performance - By Aligning People’s Behaviour to the Business Strategy

We recently carried out a piece of work with a publicly quoted financial services organisation.

Together with the recently appointed HR Director, the Support Services Director established a brief to transform the performance of the Support Services organisation. The background was a history of under investment and an environment where staff expected to be directed and ‘told’ what to do. This was reflected in a poor performance track record particularly in the IT and Business Change areas.

The company could demonstrate a raft of project interventions with little in terms of business deliverables. It would also be fair to describe the senior management team he inherited as lacking leadership with staff morale at rock bottom. This was confirmed through a series of focus group workshops with a large sample of Head Office employees together with a Climate Survey which pointed to huge gaps in terms of leadership effectiveness. The overall objective for the company was to establish an environment of high performance which represented an alignment between the style and behaviour of the staff with the strategic objectives of the business.

Changing Culture

Model, Measure iMplement: How to achieve sustainable cultural change

We have to change our ‘culture’ is one of the most frequently uttered phrases in business, politics and society. We have heard it said by Chief Executives of commercial enterprises, hospitals, charities and Unions as well as University Vice-Chancellors and leaders from the widest possible variety of organisations and social groups not just here in the UK but in every other country in which we have conducted business. At the heart of this remark lies a sense that something is not going as well as expected and anticipated results or outcomes are not being achieved. Leaders want to find a different way to approach doing things in order to improve the performance of their organisations.
