ETLS - Team Building and Effectiveness

Effective teams behave collaboratively to achieve a common goal.

Such teams possess a clearly understood sense of purpose and appreciation as to what will be done by whom by when to achieve the aim. Each can tell each other about their particular accountability and how this contributes to the broader aim. Any issues and concerns can be surfaced and dealt with in an effective manner without causing animosity and resentment, which can subsequently simmer away and build hidden barriers that impede co-operation and co-ordination. In effective teams, behaviours build openness, trust and reciprocal commitment. The team becomes bigger than the sum of its component parts and, as such, contributes greater value to the organisation of which it is a part.

The ETLS™ programme can be utilised to help build and sustain such teams fulfilling the well-known maxim of forming, storming, norming and performing. It can even help teams identify when their purpose has been fulfilled and they need to be dismantled and some new team structure created that is better positioned to help the organisation achieve its aims, reviewed and refined as they should be within a dynamic market-place.
